Medical Service Clinics

Bedford Family Eye Care provides a full array of services for all your eye care needs. In addition to our routine eye exams, we offer a full array of medical services.

Pediatric Eye Care.

Our eye doctors utilize specialized instruments and our very own pediatric exam room with interactive kid-friendly digital eye charts and equipment to engage and maintain a fun environment while ensuring the proper development of your child's vision. Bedford Family Eye Care regularly sees and treats kids with eye turns (strabismus), lazy eyes (amblyopia), and focusing disorders. Dr. Quesenberry participates with the InfantSEE program providing no cost comprehensive exam services to infants 6-12 mos. The American Optometric Association recommends scheduling your child's first comprehensive eye exam with an optometrist between the ages of six to 12 months, again at age three, and then each year of grade school.

Chronic Dry Eye Disease.

Patients suffering from dry eyes will be happy to know that we now offer a comprehensive array of dry eye testing and treatment. Dr. Quesenberry uses a variety of the latest treatments and has pioneered the use of a Three Step Expression Treatment in the Bedford area to treat evaporative dry eye disease.

Diabetic Retinal Care.

Diabetes can cause many health complications. One of the most common diabetic eye complications is called retinopathy. Standard of care for diabetic patients is a yearly eye exam. Depending on the findings, it may be necessary to follow your eyes closer. Uncontrolled diabetic retinopathy can be very serious and if left untreated can lead to loss of vision. The providers at Bedford Family Eye Care will send a letter summarizing the findings to your family doctor or whoever manages your diabetes, and if necessary coordinate medical and surgical intervention to correct proliferative diabetic retinopathy.

Glaucoma Care.

Our glaucoma patients are happy to know that Bedford Family Eye Care is well equipped to handle all their eye care needs. The eye care specialists at Bedford Family Eye Care utilize a full range of current instruments and technology to effectively detect, treat and manage glaucoma if diagnosed. Its very important to be checked for glaucoma regularly as recommended by your optometrist in order to prevent vision loss (roughly every 2-4 years prior to age 40, every 1-3 years until 60, and every year after 60).

Urgent Care.

Bedford Family Eye Care is prepared to handle urgent eye care patients with non-penetrating injuries/conditions due to the training of our providers as well as the clinical facilities specifically equipped for eye care. We see these patients regularly during our office hours but because many conditions require prompt attention, an emergency care optometrist is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to patients calling our urgent care number: 540-583-6695.

Medically Necessary and Cosmetic Contact Lenses.

Have you ever been told you weren't a candidate for contact lenses? Our office utilizes advanced technology in order to deliver the cutting edge of visually and medically necessary contact lenses. In addition to fitting the standard commercially available contact lenses, Dr. Quesenberry takes a special interest in fitting and prescribing medically necessary contact lenses for individuals with irregular astigmatism, post-surgical corneas, keratoconus, Pellucid's Marginal Degeneration, aphakia, corneal scarring, severe dry eyes, and difficult prescriptions. He utilizes specialty soft lenses, corneal RGP lenses, scleral lenses, soft/hard hybrid lenses, orthokeratology and reverse geometry lenses to help you achieve clear vision comfortably.

Myopia Control Services.

Nearsightedness (myopia) has reached epidemic proportions that is unable to be explained by a genetics model alone. In 1974, only 1 in 4 people wore glasses for myopia. That number is now nearly 1 in 2, and is projected to continue to grow. Current research is showing that decreased time spent outdoors as well as possibly increased near demand, computer and device use, etc. are increasing the amount of "peripheral hyperopic defocus" inside the eye that stimulates axial elongation (myopia) of the eye during childhood. As an example, in parts of China and Korea where kids spend nearly 12 hours in school daily and hours more doing homework, nearly 90% wear glasses for nearsightedness and roughly 20% are severely nearsighted (worse than -6.00D). Current research is showing many successful treatement options to slow the progression of myopia by as much as 60-80%. Increased myopia has long-term health risks, including increased risk for glaucoma, cataracts, and retinal detachments. Additionally, higher glasses prescriptions can greatly increase glasses and contact lens costs over a lifetime as it is necessary to go with premium, thinner lighter weight materials and overages can add hundreds. Here at Bedford Family Eye Care, you will have access to the latest treatment options and research for myopia control. We provide atropine treatment, ortho-keratology (ortho-k, aka CRT), multifocal contact lenses and in some cases multifocal eyeglasses to treat progressive myopia in kids.
